The Oakdale-Riverbank-Escalon Branch of AAUW is a group of dedicated women who work to promote educational opportunities for women and young girls in our community, and to create a community of people who value education, information and equal rights. An invaluable component is networking with other members and developing relationships that stimulate a lifetime of personal and professional growth. We continually welcome new members.
AAUW was founded in 1881, when popular wisdom held that higher education impaired women’s health. Our first research debunked that misconception, and ever since we have worked to tear down the barriers that block women from full equity.
AAUW’s power stems from its membership. With more than 170,000 members nationwide, we are a powerful voice for women and girls – a voice that cannot and will not be ignored. Membership is open to individuals holding an associate or higher degree from a higher education institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Student memberships are available. Colleges and universities can become partner members. In our community, California State University, Stanislaus is a partner member. We seek a diverse membership with no barriers on the bases of gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, creed or class.

Membership dues of $112 include national, state and local fees and are due on an annual basis. You can become a Life Member and receive all the membership benefits while avoiding possible national dues increases. New “Shape the Future“* members who join AAUW at a public event pay half the cost of national dues the first year – $33.50.
*Tax Deductibility
- AAUW national membership dues are $67 of which $64 is tax deductible as a charitable contribution.
- AAUW national paid life membership dues are $1,340 and is fully tax deductible.
- Student membership dues are $18.81, of which $16.81 is tax deductible. (This amount never changes.)
- Shape the Future membership dues are $33.50 of which $32.00 is tax deductible.
